Volunteer Brokerage Scheme

Picture

Gaunless Gateway Volunteer Broker

The role of Gaunless Gateway Volunteer Broker is to promote, develop and support
Volunteering across Cockton Hill, Henknowle, Woodhouse Close/ Tindale Crescent, St. Helen Auckland and West Auckland.

The need for the role has been identified after consulting with organisations ,and individuals across our Big Local area. The community informed us that it would be really useful to have a central person to contact in the partnership to link into existing volunteering opportunities for individuals who may have some spare time to give.

We recognise that some organisations may already have the support of in- house coordinators so agreed that a brokerage role was better suited to Big Local aims. Susan Graydon is our Volunteer Broker working on behalf of our partnership.

We have created a database of organisations and local groups who have unfilled volunteer roles available and we match these to individuals who are looking for opportunities they have an interest in.

Susan ensures that any individual looking to volunteer is placed in a safe and welcoming environment.

She will introduce the individual to the organisation or group who will be hosting them under their own policies and procedures and offer ongoing support to both parties.
